White Plate by Chef Jason

A pretty new place, one of a kind in Bangalore.  I was there to celebrate Mother's day with my mom and dad :)

One of those expensive fine dining places with great plating, kinda-small portions, but the food actually tastes as good as it looks. The chef has played amazingly well with flavours and every dish will pleasantly surprise you.

They get you started with some off-beat cranberry flavoured palate cleansers and bread stuffed with some cheese in it. A great start! We ordered the hummus and pita bread. This is different because the hummus comes with paprika foam. It enhances the already tasty hummus. We got a water chestnut and broccoli appetiser. This was great, has kind of a Chinese food flavour to it.

We ordered the Watermelon and Feta salad. This already good dish is made so much more amazing by Chef Jason. He makes it live on your table. The watermelon spheres are carbonated, there is olive oil snow to top it all, and some amazing flavoured caviar (balsamic and watermelon flavoured I think).

So, the one thing common in almost all the dishes are these flavoured pearls (referred to as caviar on the menu).

We got the vegetarian moussaka for the main course. It had a lot of things put into it, but it all went well together. The menu didn't say it would have brinjal but it was the main item in it (I am not very big on brinjal, so I didn't like it so much, but I must say that everything else about the dish was tasty!)

Coming to the dessert, we got the cassis blueberry (yayyy for having eggless desserts on the menu). It is that big chocolate ball that melts in-place when you pour chocolate sauce over it! The chocolate, the blueberry, the raspberry caviar all created one hell of a dessert.

Each dish had so many elements to it, nothing about any of them was simple! The effort the chefs put into each of their dishes is absolutely commendable. It is obviously expensive but do go there for that master-chef like experience. One of those places you would wanna celebrate special events at!
I am totally going there again at least for their salad!

(Price: Costed us about Rs. 2700 for 3 people)

Smoke House Deli

Imagine soup and sandwich on an early Sunday afternoon with a lot of sunlight!
I had been looking for a place like this for quite a while and am happy I found Smoke House Deli.
They have quite an extensive food and bar menu.
They start you off with some complimentary breads that are amazingly soft and buttery.
We got the roasted sweet corn, sour cream and truffle oil soup. It had a nice roasted flavour, the sour cream in it was the best part!
For appetizers, we got paprika puffs + wasabi salsa. If you haven't tasted wasabi before, you should know it can be really pungent. (The green paste that comes with sushi is made of wasabi). The wasabi here is mixed with tomatoes and other things to make it like a salsa and less pungent, but it still hits you on every bite. If you're up for a little adventure, go ahead and get it!
My mom and me split the Watermelon+Feta+Arugula salad. Their feta was super creamy, watermelon was amazingly sweet, but I don't think they had Arugula leaves in it. I saw more lettuce. I prefer it that way, so not complaining! A great summer salad.
You can get a half sandwich with a salad and make it a meal. So, my mom got a roasted veggies + tahina sandwich. Half is not less! If you like a lot of roasted veggies(peppers+zucchini), a good sandwich.
I had been craving for a bagel and so got the bagel with cream cheese and herbs. It comes with some lettuce and arugula leaves in the middle. Nice and simple :)
The price is like Zomato says - Rs.1500 for 2 people without alcohol.

I absolutely loved the ambience and it's going to be my go-to brunch place from now on!
